Surrounded by family, Stacia Prince died on January 31st, 2023 in her family home after a brief battle with cancer at the age of 39. Stacia was the beloved mother to Tatum Plouffe, cherished daughter of Thomas and Catherine Prince, and much loved sister of Kathleen (Jason), Anne (Kevin), and Mary (Jacob). She was adored by her nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.

Stacia was happiest cheering loudly on the sidelines at the BMX park or from the stands at the hockey rink watching “her boy” play the sports he loves. Stacia’s boisterous, infectious laugh was inherited by her son, Tatum, and this sound will forever be etched in family and friends’ memories.

Acting as the ever doting aunt, “Aunt Bisha” was always willing to jump into the frigid pool at Grams and Pops’ in order to help the younger nephews and nieces swim while her sisters sat on the deck watching, dry and warm.

Although Stacia’s battle with cancer was brief, her lifelong struggle was dealing with mental health. One of her hopes that she expressed in her last few months was that someday mental health issues would come without a negative stigma, and that society would be more understanding and supportive of mental illness as we are of physical health.

The family is forever grateful for the care and support provided by the doctors and medical staff at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital and Ottawa Cancer Clinic, and particularly the palliative care team that provided such wonderful care and comfort to not only Stacia but her family as well in the final weeks. The family is also appreciative of the prayers and support provided by Father Brennan.

A Visitation was held at the Goulet Funeral Home, 310 Argyle St, S Renfrew on Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 5-8 pm only. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church, Renfrew on Friday, February 3rd at 10:30 am. Spring interment in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that a donation be made to The Royal Ottawa Hospital Foundation.
